At Perth Staircase Builders, we design, fabricate, and install custom staircases for residential homes and commercial buildings across Perth, WA. With over 20 years of experience, we handle projects of every scale — from straightforward timber staircase replacements in family homes across Subiaco, Morley, and Scarborough, to complex architectural feature staircases in luxury properties and multi-storey commercial builds throughout the Perth CBD.
Every staircase we build starts with a clear process and ends with a compliant, precision-crafted result. We manage the entire project in-house — from initial consultation and 3D visual design through to fabrication, installation, and compliance sign-off — so our clients never need to coordinate across multiple contractors.
What we provide:
Every tradesperson on our team works exclusively in staircase construction. This means we bring a depth of technical knowledge to every project that a generalist builder or carpenter simply cannot match — whether that's the structural engineering required for a floating cantilevered design, the precision joinery of a mortise-and-tenon timber stringer, or the TIG welding and powder-coating standards we apply to all steel components.
Our in-house fabrication workshop allows us to maintain tight tolerances across every component — cut, welded, finished, and inspected before anything arrives on site. For timber staircases, that includes hand-finishing techniques that automated production cannot replicate. For steel and glass systems, it means every fixing, weld, and panel is checked against our internal quality standards before installation begins.
We select materials that perform in Perth's conditions — from the coastal humidity of Cottesloe and Fremantle to the intense UV exposure common across the metro area. Our standard material specifications include Grade 316 marine-grade stainless steel for all external and coastal installations, 12mm toughened safety glass compliant with AS1288, and Western Australian hardwoods including Jarrah, Blackbutt, and Spotted Gum for timber staircase builds.
Every material we use is sourced for longevity and finish quality, and we provide physical samples during the design process so clients can approve timber species, stain colours, and metal finishes before fabrication begins. We don't substitute materials without client approval, and our transparent pricing includes a full cost breakdown so there are no surprises at any stage.
We believe the experience of building a staircase should be as considered as the staircase itself. That starts with a detailed on-site consultation and structural assessment, moves through 3D render approval and design sign-off, and ends with a final compliance inspection before handover.
At every stage, we communicate clearly, hold to the agreed timeline, and manage all compliance documentation — including AS 1657, AS 1170, and NCC requirements — so our clients never need to chase paperwork across multiple parties.
If something changes during a project, we tell you immediately and explain the impact on cost and timeline before proceeding. Our goal is that by the time we hand over your completed staircase, the only surprise is how good it looks.
